FiberEUse at Design Week Milan | Salone del Mobile

From 5–10 October 2021 FiberEUse project results were showcased in a curated exhibition at Superstudio Piu during Milan Design Week.

The exhibition entitled 'FiberEUse – Circular Products for a Sustainable Future ‘, curated by Origoni Steiner, presented comprehensible insights, data, products and solutions of FiberEUse to a wide audience. The location Superstudio Piu in the centre of Milan attracted more than 30.000 visitors and achieved numerous articles in various media (broadsheets, national TV, Social Media). We are pleased about the huge interest of visitors regarding the pressing issue of developing new circular economy value-chains based on the reuse of end-of-life fiber reinforced composites from the wind energy, automotive and construction industries.

Manual of Quality Standards for Circular Design

The transition to a circular economy is a system change, which calls for a rethinking of linear processes in favor of recyclable products and product service systems. In order to ensure a sustainable development on economic, social, and ecological levels, the United Nations have agreed to reach a total of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The responsibility to implement these goals resides equally with both designers and manufacturers. Designers mediate between all actors involved in the development process and can thereby create transparency. For this information exchange to be successful, the H2020-project FiberEUse provides designers and manufacturers with comprehensible design guidelines, standards and tips to help realize the sustainability goals.

FiberEUse at the JEC World

From 12.-14. March 2019 the JEC World show took place in Paris. With more than 1,300 exhibitors and more than 43,000 professional visits JEC is the biggest composites show in the world.

AVK (as one partner in the FiberEUse project) was present at the show with a shared booth via the umbrella organization Composites Germany (www.composites-germany.com) . For presenting our project we had the possibility to show 2 wine coolers which were produced as demonstrators in the FiberEUse project.

The picture shows Dr. Walter Begemann - Project manager Hybrid Lightweight Technologies VDMA (right) and Dr. Elmar Witten - Spokesman for the management of Composites Germany and Managing Director AVK (left). At the right handside of the picture you see the two wine coolers, which were presented at the booth the whole time. In addition we had a flyer prepared by Design Austria which was given to interested parties.

We had some good conversations at the booth as well as at several meetings concerning the topics sustainability/recycling and our project activities.
